I have a 98' dodge Neon with annoying alternator belt screeching. Use to only screen when I first crank the engine, now it screeches when I'm driving. Someone give me visual aid or instructions please...
I would try and visually inspect the belt to see its condition (cracks, etc...)...also, you may need to just tighten the belt...On a 2nd Gen this process is very simple, but I'll let a 1st Gen guru chime in with instructions...
if you push on the belt, it should move no more than about a half inch. The alternator should have an tensioning adjuster bolt on it. Also, if you have an oil leak in that area, the belt may have oil on it causing it to slip.
