Default The best performance upgrade!

I have a 1998 dodge neon 2.0 DOHC. I just bought an intake (its in the mail), and i was wondering what the cheapest and most effective upgrade for acceleration would be. a turbo is just wayy too expensive. i was thinking about getting a catback exhaust system. but whats cool about 1st gen neons is that the exhaust is 2 1/4 in and it is mandrel bent sogetting a catback wouldntdo anything because its already thick andmandrel bent. so im just thinking about getting a good muffler and cat converter.then do i need to get headers and a downpipe & headers.please help thanks

The udp was the first mod I put on my car. The only improvement that I felt was the amount of power the car had with the AC on. The AC, alternator, and power steering pump tend to suck a lot of power from the engine. If u get an aftermarket udp which is smaller and lighter, it'll free up some horsepower and torque.
If u have a powerful sound system, I wouldn't recommend u get an aftermarket udp. Normally the udps are smaller and lighter unless u customize it like I am. The smaller the udp is, the less power it sends to the accessories (alternator, power steering pump, ac). Like I said, when it sends less power to those accessories, it will free up hp. By the udp being lighter, it will make the car rev faster than the stock udp.
I'm having an udp customized to be more suitable for my sound system.

If I were u, I'd get an aftermarket header next.

what type of intake did you get? please don't say a crappy ebay one.
does your car have a mtx? upgrade to an atx tb.
longtube header would help.
give the car a tune up. there's probably something to be gained there.
don't bother with a muffler or piping. that's a waste.

neons have a great exhaust as it is......you dont need to upgrade unless you go turbo or want a better sound

What intake? If it isn't an Iceman then you wasted your money.

atx tb means AUTO TRANSAXLE THROTTLE BODY!!! Ha, that is kinda funny though, sorry The reason is is because the mtx has a 49 mm tb and the atx has a 52mm tb. This will give you better throttle response.

And on the intake, this is because iceman is really the only one out there that you buy that is actually worth anything, the 3.0L you are refering to is a custom intake but dosnt look the prettiest. The cheap ebay ones that I think it was spud was talking about draws air from behind the engine, so it is not a cold air intake.
