You can use a intake manifold from a 2.0L DOHC neon.
Does that mean you can still use the iceman intake? Also how easily will a stratus engine bolt up to a manual neon transmission? Just as easily? And will other parts such as my Mopar Performance PCM and Dynomax Exhaust work w/ the stratus engine?

Also is edmunds.com wrong because it rates the 4cyl 1999 STD stratus as having
Horsepower: 132 hp Max Horsepower: 6000 rpm Torque: 128 ft-lbs. Max Torque: 5000 rpm

You will be able to use the Iceman with the 2.4 engine. The neon tranny bolts right up to the Stratus engine and you can use the PCM and exhaust.

Those numbers you posted may be from the SOHC 2.0L engine also available in the Stratus.

uh...and why is that?

I've used every part from my 2.0 on the the 2.4, including the iceman that's on it now. Only parts that are different are the srt parts, ie tensioner, pistons, etc. and the adjustable cam gears. Right now I even have 2.0 cams in it, which only required turning the cam magnet 90 degrees.

You can use the 2.0: header, head, intake manifold, tb, intake, udp, radiator, coil, wires, and ecu. use the neon tranny as well. you'll need to upgrade the clutch to at least a pt.
only thing 2.4 is the pt alternator bracket.

wiring is minimal if you already have a dohc harness. sohc requires splicing and soldering.
fuel is minimal, upgrading to 24 pound injectors or using the fuel pump from a second gen neon.

All you really need is a 2.4 block. Order some cheap srt pistons, rod, rings, etc from moparsupercenter here in Chas. throw your 2.0 parts on it and go to town.

Stock 2.4's are not blistering. Biggest weakness is the stock cams. As stated you can use 2.0 cams, but crane or bc cams can make up to 40hp properly tuned. with the srt bottom end, it's not going to break.

DOHC is 150hp with 160 ft/lbs of torque. Torque is the biggest advantage of the 2.4.
