hey guys i need some help withmy 98 neon sohc well my car is auto and before this it would drive good but this winter i was going to school and parked in the alley so when i get and try to get out i cant i got stuck and me being so stupid i just keep pressing the gas and still didnt come out but then i started to see smoke coming out the drivers side wheel well the front one and i stoped and try again and got out ever since that day when im at a stop and take off its mad slow i got to floor it to get it to drive fast well normal it takes forever to get up to fourty mph and also when i open the hood it smells like something is burnt any idea thnx in advance hope nothing wrong with it lol its my first car

 

Have you checked your oil and tranny fluid levels?

 

oil is good never checked tranny thought ill check it

 

You are probably low and need a fluid and filter change (every 30,000 miles).

 

just checked it and the levels are fine

 

Well then, when was the last time you had a tune-up?

Is your CEL on? Does the car start up and run fine, just the slow acceleration?

 

nope no cel n yea it drives fine but its just way slower n slow accleration i always got to have my foot all the way down on pedal just to get going fast it never was like this it always ran fine like new lol i take care of this car more then i takecare of myself its my baby lol but since that day its been driving slow like theres no power looks like a lost horsepower

 

How does it shift? If it's OK, then you may have damage internally. You can check the throttle linkage, kickdown band and so on.
