SRT-4 Exhaust
Ok so just a small question and I also want your opinions. I have the oppurtunity to buy the whole SRT-4 exhaust system..almost all...the whole mid-pipe section and the rear section. What I want to know is :
Will the whole exhaust (mid pipes and rear) fit on my 1st gen?
Does the SRT-4 rear section sound good?
Are there any gains at all with this set-up?
What would you reccomend me to do? Buy this or another system?
Also, should I go with a cat or without cat? (Here in the KY we dont have emissions so its not big deal)
Any input or opinions, suggestions, comments would be appreciated. Thanks

none of the exhaust fits without any modding.....
the bolt design from the cat to the manifold has a 4 bolt flange.....so in order for it to fit you will have to use your cat, or get a highflow or test pipe.....the srt4 exhaust is still only 2.25" so it isnt any bigger then the exhaust you have now
you will need to make new hangers for the rear section because they are off set from our stock hangers......i still have to make the hangers for mine[&:]
if you take the cat out of the system then it will sound like ***.....there needs to be a cat or resonator in there or your car will sound like a bee or weed whacker
and also, in order for the pipe to fit you will have to cut out the section that goes around the rear suspension and have it custom fabbed....same with the rear section, you have to cut off about 4 inches of the pipe and put in a new section

Ok so I have decided to just buy the rear section from this guy and just cut a little and make new hangers. And yes Das, I know it would sound a hell of alot better with a turbo, but right now I just want something different on there and plan on going turbo next summer. So question, I guess Spud since you are doing this now. How hard is it to make new hangers and also if I leavethe stock pipes on except for the rear section, how much do I have to cut off and/or weld on to attach it to the stock piping?
with the stock piping you will have to cut off the 90 degree bend and from there you just have to chop a little and see how it fits...then chop some more
same with the rear section....you have to chop off about 6-8 inches and then try and find a piece of pipe to fit the open space....though it wont be a straight piece since the pipes will connect at about a 20 degree angle...
for the hangers, find some small rod and cut it in about 12 inch pieces....mark about 4 inches from the end and put a 90 degree bend in there.....then on the bent part, make another small bend about an inch from the end...
keep the stock rubber hangers on the car and place the rear section underneath where you want it....
slide the bend ends of the rods into the rubber hanger ends.....then just find a spot on the pipe where the rods meet it and weld them in place
