Yay more codes! I got a code 31, just today, and recently the car sort of like jerks when it shuts off and i can smell gas, any idears?

 

Code 31 is for an evap system, there could be 4 diffenrent (P) codes with this code,P0455,P1486,P0442,and P0441.

 

Make sure your gas cap is closed securely.

 

I got it to shut off, but will it come back on after so many miles or would i of known by now? I disconnected the neg cable to reset the pcm.

 

Just keep driving and see what happens.

 

My car is throwing the same code. So far i have replaced, the evap solenoid, and the gas cap but it is still throwing the same code.

 

I hope it dont come back, my uncle had a bich ridding this thing of codes [:@]

 

A code 31 can be any of the following:
P0441 EVAP Purge Flow Monitor Failure
P0442 EVAP Monitor Small Leak Detected
P0443 EVAP Purge Solenoid Circuit
P0455 EVAP Monitor Large Leak
P1486 EVAP Monitor Pinched Hose Found
P1494 Leak Detection Pump Switch Or Mechanical Fault
P1495 Leak Detection Pump Solenoid Circuit

Find out which problem you have by getting the car scanned at getting the "P" code.

 

Thank you, now all i have to do is find some with a scan tool.

 

Autozone, NAPA or some other auto parts store will scan it for free.
