Ok. I've been reading into the 2.4 swap and I've read so many different things from so many different places. I found an engine for relatively cheap out of a first gen. stratus. Now, I have a 5 speed in my neon and the first and most important question is will my tranny work with the engine from an auto strat. Second, what absolutely needs to be replaced on the engine for it to fit because I dont want to have to tear the whole engine down. Now, the computer, if I use the computer out of the same strat it will throw a torque converter code which is no big deal, but there are two plugs into the computerI plan to change the harness to all the sensors and that but will the other harness plug right into the computer? Finally, to bolt the motor mounts up do I only need the conversion mount?

To the original poster, the engine will work fine with your MTX and you would need to use a neon DOHC PCM not the stratus one.

 

i have a 95 dodge neon that i plan on swapping a 97 dodge carvan 2.4 engine. i have a bran new 5 speed tranny from a 98 dodge neon. will the 98 tranny bolt up to the 2.4 and i have a sohc engine in it right know will i have to buy ecu for a dohc to run the 2.4 engine?

 

Yes the 98 tranny will bolt up to the 2.4 engine and yes you will need a neon DOHC PCM to run the 2.4 engine.

 

in the swap info i found on the form it talks about having to cutting the power steering bracket. is there any place i can buy the power steering braket that will fit?can i just use the ps braket off of the carvan? and where can i find a kit the has the braket (alternator) and the motor mounts

 

You have to trim your front motor mount and www.modernperformance.com sells the 2.4 passenger side motor mount adapter.

 

i got the intake for the 2.4 ,the wiring harness,fuelrail can i use any of this or do i have to change it over to a 2.0? i went to the site and found the motor mounts but i didnt see anything for the brakets.

 

You would use the 2.0 DOHC intake manifold, wiring harness and fuel rail. I don't know about the brackets. PM rrwertz...he knows all about the 2.4 swap.
