stupid ABS, anyone know what this is?
According to the Dodge dealership, this part does not exist. it comes off the center rear drum, snakes around with the brake line and then stops at the electrical connection. it sprung a leak and has caused my dads Neon to have zero brakes. so it needs to be replaced but yet no one knows what it is (not even the other Neon site). anybody know what the heck it is? and yes it has ABS...that doesn't work...

also i tried taking it off to actually take to the dealership to show them that it is infact real, but i couldn't get the main thing off the drum, i got all the bolts off and then that thing just doesn't want to come off, i'm tried prying at it, pulling, pounding, everything and it just wont come off. any ideas on how to take it off?

i dont know...are you sure thats where its comming from????
from the looks of it, in the bottom pic, the steel brake line is really bad....the plug to the left of it is the wheel sensor wires.....
however, in the top pic, that piece with the 10mm bolt in it looks like the abs sensor......
are you sure they connect

Spud is right. The part you picture here is the ABS sensor. It did not spring a leak as there is no fluid in a sensor line, it is all electrical. What is in there is a sensor coil magnet that measures wheel speed by creating a current as the wheel rotor rotates past it. As wheel speed increases so does the voltage of the current. ABS compares these voltages and pulses or modulates your brakes to even things out (simply put) so you barke in a straighter line.It doesn't physically do anything to the braking system at the rotor. It only sends data (wheel speed as a voltage) to the ABS control module.
Anyhow, your leak is obviousley in that rusted out steel brake line. I would replace that whole section and check the other rear wheel brake line too. If this one is that bad, chances are...
, the other one is too, or very close.

shoot, it is. i felt it in the wrong place.
cant i just kinda patch the line? i know theres alot of pressure but like some JB weld, duck tape, and then a thing of expoxy do the job? cause for me, it will take too long and basiclly not worth it. the car has 212,xxx on her. she burns oil like a ****, and arg. stupid rust.

jb weld will work if the area is cleaned real good....
or you could cut the bad piece out and get some high pressure rubber brake line and clamp it in there

Boy, judging from the looks of it, you may have more than one leaking spot on that line. It's not really that bad of a job to replace it all. Oil line can be bent to shape fairly easily. Just don't try any major 90 degree bends unless you have a tubing bender cause you will kink it. Clean in it up really good first, but I got a feeling cleaning it is going to expose more damage than you'll want to reapir and if you get any jb weld inside the line while patching it up then it'll be shot anyway.
You can replace it, you can replace it, you can replace it...... Keep saying that!
