You would need to ask in an Eclipse, Avenger or Sebring forum. The 420a is not the engine in the DOHC neon...its an ECC.

It is possible to get over 600 HP out of a 2.4L engine though.

i posted before that Allpar states that with stock internals, the 2.0 (at least for sohc, im assuming its the same for dohc) can reach approx. "330hp at the crank before the rods start to stretch. with a mere upgrade in rods and pistons, teh engine can handle 600+ and that's with stock head (no porting), cams, crank, and mls headgasket."

that is not to say that they don't have turbo, and havnt upgraded their axle's and whatnot. it would take a whole lot more than just strapping on a turbo.

that being said though, 400hp is attainable. you have to take in mind that those tests were probably done with engines in amazing shape (brand new most likely). like anyone here will tell you (especially those with experience), once you start adding the ponies, little problems CAN and WILL become big ones. so just make sure you take a real good look at the shape of your engine before you decide you would like to go that high in numbers.

 

thanks guys and i know what i have to do to get 400 horses ive done alot of reserach and for the one who said its not probable y the **** not dude.....whos seen i neon with 400+ horses....yea i get **** all the time for having a neon but i dont care it doesnt bug me becuz i know soon it will have an *** load of power i know rite now where i stand a will end ^ dropping bout 8000 into the motor and about 3000 on cosmetics no no bodykits and **** like that i dont want a ricer car but i plan on getting atleast 400+ or atleast into the mid12s in the quater mile if i can do that ill be VERY happy sooo that the plan ther guys

 

If mid 12's is all your are looking for I would suggest the 300whp mark and a good pair of slicks.

 

really the neon with 300 will run that?

 

a stage 3 srt4 runs mid 12s and has 355hp

so yea don't worry about it

 

word...im just sick of people saing neons cant do this or cant do that...so im going to prove them wrong..like a couple of my friends have hondas with like 1500 dollars in them and my neon beats them with just a cai and a high flow muffler...i have really big plans for this neon i dont care how much money i have to spend

 

you can always lose to ahondatoo they can get just as fast if not faster.
