If you live anywhere near wisconsin bring it on I will show you why the DOHC is overrated. The DOHC engine is a good engine but its not better than the SOHC. You can test this yourself go dyno your DOHC and tell me what it comes up to. Between my forays into Gtech and a local chassis dyno and knowing a friend with a DOHC Neon and paying for him to get his Dyno'ed I can tell ya there isnt much powerdifference between those engines to raise the DOHC to god status, infact stock for stock there was a 3hp difference on the dyno which you can gain that with a tune up. as I said before with the DOHC's PCM and Exhuast SOHC cars make more than DOHC cars with the same set up.

With the SOHC stock for stock I can smoke a DOHC on the street stop light to stop light off the line andup hills!! In the top end the nice spark advance and free flowing exhaust helps out that old DOHC to catch up nicely, or maybe its because 3rd gear sucks so bad on the automatic.

Thats why I'm gonna strong arm it with a Turbo soon!

Iget to 95mph veryquick then it takes avery looongtime to get to 110mphor maybeit just seems long when your on only a mile long road and your worrying about stopping at the end.

I use that wide open throttle trick with my automaticat 25mph and floor it and from there it has major nuts and during a street race Icansmoke any car from that launch speed practicly except V8 cars. Then 1st Gear winds up to about 52mph and 5500RPM (7200rpm on my brothers camero in 1st he's goin 37mph lol) and then I wind 2nd gearup to 90mph then3rd is the jack off gear.

Stock vs stock in a drag race here is the order the neons will finish (all 1st gen neons):
1st - DOHC MTX
2nd - SOHC MTX
3rd - SOHC ATX
4th- DOHC ATX

PERIOD!

Swapping a DOHC muffler and PCM is not enough to catch or beat a DOHC.

I think we need to factor in the different MTX Trannys - I know I can tell the difference on the track
on the 95 DOHC MTX - there are 3 trannys available back then

3.20 Final Drive Ratio - Very Rare and found in World Challenge Neons
3.54 Final Drive Ratio
3.84 Final Drive Ratio

I am in the process of experimenting with the different Tranny (except the 3.20 - can not find one)
I don't recall which one - but I belive the 3.54 is more performance and the 3.84 is more fuel economic

Of course the More Fuel Economic Tranny will have less performance!
