dohc's still have better top-end power
Stock vs Stock maybe and only if youcompare a SOHCauto vs 5 speedDOHC, but with the DOHC's PCM and Exhaust on your SOHC car (even with an automatic tranny) you will waste it. If you are using a 5 speed your top End will Rock anyway, if your using an automatic and plan to use a automatic with the DOHC head you wont gain anything because the PCM for the DOHC with an auto tranny have the same 6700RPM rev limiter the SOHC has. Just swap a 95 SOHC cam in your current SOHC engine along with the DOHC's exhuast and PCM and you will consistantly own a DOHC car by a few car lengths. The fact is the SOHC responds better to the Exhaust and PCM better than the DOHC they were designed for. Even if you don't have the higher range cam from a 95 SOHC you will still smoke a DOHC car.

And from expirence I can tell you from expirence that going 115the Engine is at 4100RPM's,by the time the DOHC's aggressive cams come into play around 5800the rev limiter is pushing you back down to 118. Even so if you want more top end out of your SOHC swap a stock95 cam into your 96 and later SOHC car and you will gain the top end needed to delete the DOHC's advantage.

Doing simple mods to the SOHC are easier andpay off morein power than just swapping a whole newDOHC engineinto your car.

So are you saying if I were to put a DOHC PCM and DOHC muffler on my stock SOHC engine, my numbers would be comparable to a DOHC engine?
I'm saying you would outright smoke a DOHC with a SOHC engine with those PCM and Exhaust mod's and the lead would be even bigger if you put a cam from a 95 Neon ina 96+SOHC Engine.

My '98SOHC without a DOHC PCMwill smoke aDOHC equipedcar up to 75mph then after 75 it equals out and is a side by side race, and if I had a cam from a 95 SOHC in my car it wouldnt be an equal race it would be a killing.

Many people don't chance it but I do because I had to prove a point to a DOHC car once, off the line I put my car in neutral and put it up to 5200RPM and slamed it into drive once the light turned green and I just about melted that DOHC car off the line and smookedhim very good up until about 75 where his 5 speeds gearing was getting a chance to catch up and I blame that on my automatics loooong 3rd gear not the SOHC engine, automatic DOHC's are slower given the same opertunity. I do not recomend doingneutral drops but one thing it did prove is if you got the ***** to risk your SOHC'stranny you can wipe the smile off the guys face at Auto Zone who laughs at your SOHC and turn that into respect.

Both engines have similar potential for power but due to design from factory the DOHC actually needs machine shop work done to it (such as milling the head) to have similar potential that the SOHC can gain by just byswapping stockparts.

so if i have a 96sohc with a/t what year dohc pcm for an automatic right ? and by exhaust u mean every thing cat back or what?

if you have a 96 then you need to use a pcm out of another 96...unless you dont mind switching some wires around......as for the muffler, they are reffering to the stock dohc muffler

i still dont believe any of this....obviously sumone just doesnt know how to drive

any of my stock dohc auto's would beat any stock sohc auto
i will leave the r/t out of this
When I floor my Auto SOHC at 25mph its gonna wax your DOHC each and every time up until about 92mph when the tranny shifts into 3rd gear. I was neck and neck with a newerSuburu 5 speed and that is the only car that has ever gave me a hard time from that launch speed. I put a spacer on my intake and now My high range has imporved 25%, it will actualy reach 6,000RPM and still feel like its pulling hard.

Stock for Stock a Auto SOHC (Neon Sport) gets 16.2 1/4 mile and the RT DOHC 5 speed gets a 15.9, a good driver will make up the difference in the SOHC. Hence flooring the car in neutral and doing the drop will give you a nice off the line advantage at risking your tranny but it can be done. Even with those times I'd still be on your Bumper so you win by less than a car length.

The PCM alone will make the race even and the exhaust will give me the edge. I'm buying a DOHC PCM today and its go time with any DOHC who thinks the SOHC is a push over. If I cleaned my trunk out it would look bad for the DOHC lol

1/8 1/4

1998 Dodge Neon R/T 7.5 15.9

1/8 1/4
1995 Dodge Neon Sport Coupe 8.0 16.2

http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.htmlfactory Stock 1/4 mile and 1/8 miletimes. (Scroll down to read the times)

This is just to funny i live in mn and if you wanna try and waste me in your SOHC just bring it cuz i know i will waste you. from your 25mph launch if i leave it in 2nd and punch it. it wont even be a race and i know this for a fact so stop trying to prove a fictional point and i know many other MTX drivers will verify thishave a nice day!
I got a Turbo on it now, I'll even give you a 5 second head start. I'm in Central Wisconsin come bring it...lol I ate an DOHC Avenger just b4 the turbo and i wasn't impressed at all by the DOHC's mythic statusto the SOHC. It looked pretty silly.

5 speed DOHCprobably walks my neon in stock form but auto vs auto the SOHC pwns it.
