hydrolocked or skipped a tooth?
alright well as i type my car is sitting on an on-ramp. it broke down. what happened was as i was turning on to get on the highway the car just started to miss and slow down and then chug and stay around 500rpms. before then the car was running just fine except i had to change lanes (bout 15 sec. before the on-ramp to the highway) rather fast and i ran through a puddle (and i have a CAI without a bypass). now then, the engine bay smells like gas and if u let the car sit, it will start and run for like a minute at around 500rpms before it dies and wont refire and then the smell of gas comes back. the motor doens't sound good at all.
Its not such a big deal since my new red car will be up and running by Tuesday but in the mean while my parents want answers and those were the two things i came up with.

when my Map Sensor went bad - I had similiar issues - could start the car and it would idle very rough and eventually die. I would have to let it sit before it would crank up again.

honestly Racer, i dont care if it gets bent valves lol. come Tuesday it will be in my garage one way or the other and completely dismanteled. the fuel line, i was thinking that, but the smell is coming from the engine bay only and i didn't feel any broken lines around there
