Default exhaust manifold gasket.

when i took it off, it didn't have a gasket on it at all. i tried putting the gasket from modernperfomance on it and it was a PITA cause i forgot to put the manifold on when i put the head on. should i take the manifold off and try to put the gasket on it or or do u think it would be ok?

Personally, I would put the gasket on. What do you mean, it is kinda confusing. Do you mean that you put the head on the engine before you connected the exhaust manifold? I know that when I did the headgasket on my neon never took the exhaust manifold out of the car. Are you having a hard time keeping the gasket in place or what? If that is the case, use some aviation cement or rtv to hold the gasket on the manifold and then put a bolt through a hole on each end to hold it in place. Not sure if that was what you were looking for though...

it would be a very good idea to put the gasket on it.....the manifold and head arent made perfect enough that you dont need one.....unless you dont wanna put it back on then you will eventually just get an exhaust leak...possibly a noisy one too
