well my last VSS post no one helped but right now im 100% that it is the gear in the tranny that is bad..
is this replaceable or, is the only solution a new tranny??

actually the gear "in the tranny" is on the end of the CV axle and machined into it, pull the axle, its part of it.
if you spin the drivers wheel only you will get no reading.
the sensor gear snaps in place into the sensor.
theres not much else other than wiring connectionsor a bad dash cluster

nope its not the cluster i checked that in my sisters car and i dont think its wires becuz when i spin the vss by hand the speedo goes up and down

would attaching the vssto something and placeing it in the tire make an acurate reading??

thats how desperate i am it would of course i have to go with the flow (if i hit a bump) so it couldnt be on something solid

but would it be accurate to have the tire spin the vss

the gear thatturns the vss gear is has to be a specific size to get an accurate reading....otherwise it would be pointless to do the work to get it to run on the tire[&:]

i dont see how the gear could wear out on the axle unless something metal went through it and tore it to hell. its hardened steel, its part of the axle.
now maybe you have a broken wire and loses connection when its stretched down to plug in the VSS when its on the trans, theres all kinds of weird stuff that happens like that with cars., if you can SAFELY jack up just the passenger side wheel, put it in gear, leave it idle with the wheel spinning in the air and then have someone watch the speedo while you wiggle the wires around..you have to spin the passenger sidewheel because thatsthe one with the gear that spins the VSS.
i just dont see how it cant work after you put it together unless you have the gear on wrong. IMO i would pull the axle out and see if it even has the gear on it, sometimes the remanned axles get pretty chewed up before they get rebuilt., maybe it has one of those....

well when i put my finger inside the tranny i feal a plastic (fealing) ferris weel like thing which i figurd was the gear cuz thats the only thing there around were you put the vss in the tranny and it was all loose and wobbly
