ORIGINAL: racerx55

i can do it in an hour. that only if evrything comes apart easy and nothing goes wrong & you know them cars inside and out. i wonder if you motor wasnt out of time before, usually you wont gain THAT much from just new belt & pump.
I know, I didnt expect a gain either but whenI started it up after reconecting the battery it didn't run bad it started instantly and didnt choke off like it normally would after reconecting the battery and it sounded more consistant at idle.

The only thing I can think is the slop in the belt and the extreme play in the water pump bearing. The play in the water pump bearing was about a little more than a1/4 of an inch wobble which I could see adding lag to thetiming. When I squezed both the new belt and the oldbelt together the old belt was3 inches longer.

I'm pretty sure after I took it apart it will be easy to take off next time because I'll know what goes where andhopefully I'll be more organsied Organisation killed me, I lost so many tools and bolts and it took 15 minutes at a crack to find stuff sometimes.
