Ok lets get some facts straight...
1)SXT motor has compleatly different motor mounts and to acually get one in a first gen would require so much work that it would drive you insane.
2)SOHC is not a bitch to work on. neoncrazy101 pretty much said it all.
3)The SOHC was underated from the factory.
4)SRT4 motor Can be swapped and has been done. but expensive.
5)SRT4 turbo swap can be done to a 1st gen and is very effective. but still pretty expensive.

just my .02 cents...

If you want the best motor... check this out...
Howell automotive 2.2 stroker long block
http://www.howellautomotive.com/inde...amp;ProdID=671
and then add this...
Hahn racecraft stage 2 but with the 20g turbo...
http://www.howellautomotive.com/inde...amp;ProdID=825

Then add about 3000 dollers worth of other stuff to get it going
I've done the math and acually priced out this motor combo with all the goodies you can shake a stick and and i came up with 15112.60 before shipping, and it dident even take in for a stand alone unit.

You forgot,

The SOHC adds 5 inches to your manhood over the DOHC and this is Girl Friend proven.

The SOHC was UNDERRATED from factory and you are better off putting a Turbo on than swapping your SOHC out.

With 7psi of Boost the Hahn Racecraft website says 200-225Hp off of a stock SOHC Engine without an intercoolerwhich is SRT-4 Engine territory, not to mention they say an intercooler adds about 25-50hp more.

You don't need the Hahn system to run these numbers, 7psi of boost is 7psi of boost anywhere.

You know, when people post these numbers, they fail to mention that this was on a newer engine. Not on an engine with over 100,000+ miles. Boosting an older milage engine isn't a very bright idea. Yes you can turbo a SOHC engine and get close to SRT-4 territory but how long before the block goes boom?!?!?! The SRT-4 engine is built for boost, thats not to say you can't build the SOHC block for it also, but then you are talking more money.

The srt4 swap is the way to go the internals will handle 450 - 500 hp with out any mods and for build for build the srt 4 2.4L will out power out torque either 2.0L

yeah but you have a better bottom end....if you build the bottom end the srt-4 will not scare you that much....put a 2.4 in the car and build that to the max and i doubt that many cars will ever scare you

Nope, still rated at 132HP from the factory. Now the R/T or ACR SOHC Magnum engine is rated at 150 HP.

SRT-4 Engine = Blah

Hahn RaceCraft website says 7psi of boost will put the DOHC and SOHC Engine at 200-225hp WITHOUT an intercooler and it will be safe for the stock internals. You could find any turbo and use 7psi to get the 200+Hp 7psi is the same from any turbo company. The SRT-4makes 215hpand your SOHC with a turbo and intercooler could make somewhere around 250-275hp says Hahn Racecraft, All on 7-9 psi of boost and without upgrading parts on your Engine, SRT-4 What?

http://www.hahnracecraft.com/auto/ne...neonstage1.htm

The SRT-4 Swap is good if you allready have the engine but is way over pricedif you just want the power of one.
