I changed out my alternator because well... It died on me. Now after the change I can only jump start my car to drive it. I turn the key to start and I get all lights. when I turn the key to start the engine I get one click and all the lights go dim and stay that way until I I move the battery terminals around. Is it my starter? If it is then how can I jump my car still? any suggestions? 95 automatic neon.

 

I say put in a press start button, I had to do it to my 89 accord

 

clean your battery terminals till they shine like a new nickle.

FOrgot to say also. my battery is good. I took it to an autozone and another autoparts place. they both tested the battery and its good. They charged it up too. I also bought a new battery and tried it. Same problem , same pissy me.[:@] . I guess I will have the starter checked. quick question on that. I can get to the starter. THere are 3 screws on the right side... Do you have to unscrew those to take the starter out?

 

First of all did you unhook your battery before messing with your alt. If not did you happen to short out the wires while changing the alt.

 

It does not sound like starter problem to me...
