Compression test would test the valves. Once you pull the head off, you can have a look at the block. Yes, you will need a new HG. Might as well change the timing belt, water pump and idler pulley as well. I can list where I got all my parts from as I just did this a couple of weeks ago.

*A-1 CARDONE from www.rockauto.com, part # 58522 $21.79
*FEL-PRO head bolt set from www.rockauto.com, part # ES72157 $31.79

And I got a Felpro timing belt from my local Autozone store.

do i need to buy new sencers or can i just swap out the ones that are on it and can i use the old timeing belt i put int on like 3-4 months befor i blew it oooo and if there is a bit of rust on the valves do i have to take it in to a shop or is it something i can do

You can swap the sensors as long as they plug into your wiring harness.

if there is a bit of rust on the valves do i have to take it in to a shop or is it something i can do
as long as its not on the valve seat, or any of the guides i should be negligible.

Personaly i would have the head tolerances checked at a shopalong with valve stretch, regrind seats, repace valev guides, spring tensions ect . But that just me.

ok well i went junkyard hopping yesterday and cam by a dodge 2.4 stratus dohc now how hard would that be to swap that into my 96 what would i need all it has on the motor is the wiring hannesand would it be worth it
