ok i must be missing something. as far as i understand the whole point is to have less arm movement. correct? if so thats what i have accomplished

Ok to try to put this in the simplest terms. A short throw shifter reduces total percentage of length needed to shift to the next gear. Not trying to start anything justin but you still have to move the shiftlinkage the exact same lenth to get it to go into gear a true short throw shifter you only have to move4 inchs or so to get it to the next gear.There is a guy on the other forum that acually makes a short throw shifter that reduces throw by 80% witch is literally only moving the **** mayby an inch if your lucky.

ok...your shifter reduces the amount your arm has to move.....thats it
a real short throw shifter not only reduses the aount your arm has to move but also the amount of travel the cables have to make

ok now i understand. but... the the site that das listed several posts ago shows an animated diagram showing that the linkage moves the same on a short throw shifter. just less arm movement

i guess it does....but normally a short shifter will reduce all distances traveled...the hurst does

actually the link shows that the shifter is not actually shorter anywhere!, the shifter its self has been "lowered" bringing the pivot point up on the stick. so the bottom is now longer and pushes on the linkage quicker.
