Start the car then unhook the battery and see what reading you get

 

lol if i could only start the car right now i would be happy my wife has her car right now... what should the reading be???

 

ok i am the first to admit when im wrong...

I'm a f-ing idiot....it seems as if i did not trim the back of the battery box enuf for the side mounts and as the car bounced down the road it decided to loosen the positive battery connection just enuf to make it feel solid under normall checking but once i gave it a bit of a nudge when trying to get my 1/2 inch wrench on the connecter to take it off so i could switch out the battery tomorrow, and the wrech slipped a bit but did not turn bolt at all the connector moved I was instantly pissed... so yeah i tightened it down a bit checked the voltage it was sitting at 8.5 jumped it with a battery i had laying around and let it idel for about 20 mins. turned it off and low and behold had 12.3v damn it damn it damn it... I go around telling everyone to triple check after they have double checked and it happens to me.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
