You guys are reading into this dealer thing way too much. When I went to get my car, I really wanted a MTX; however, the dealer said he didn't have any, and at the time I was not too upset. This is because, at the time, I did not know I would become so interested in upgrades... I took the dealers word for it (Which I won't do again) and bought the car - I went back later and saw that they did have manuals... Thats my story

Any other advise - other than I am retarded - on upgrades would nice

Don't take what I said personal man. Its all good.

You aren't retarded.

What are you looking to do? I can give you a whole list of things you can do to your ATX.

Are you looking to build your own turbo kit or buy one?

Wow, how did I miss this???????

Dude stock a MTX, with the good drver mod, is totally better than an ATX, with any driver. A built ATX, mostly meaning turbo, is absolutely superior to a MTX with the exact same mods, even with the excellent driver mod. I personally love a stick. But if I was building a straight drag car I would have the ATX, I want a fun car. To me any car other than a MTX is not fun, but thats sacrifice, for times and speed. I have a 98 MTX SOHC neon, I plan on putting in a crane #14 as soon as I have the cash. As soon as I have the bigger money I plan on puttin in a Chill Factory turbo kit. With those mods and I few other things I plan on pulling somewhere around 300+ WHP.

Oh and just to voice the group opinion:

Crazy has one of the fastest ATX neons that is driven on a daily basis. I have personally never seen his car, but I do know people that have similar mods and Transmission mods, that have some pretty fast ATX neons. So, trust what he says about automatic transmissions, because yo will not find anyone else on here that knows the Neon automatic transmission any better than him on this site. Wow, that sounds awefully mean, but on the ATX for the Neon, Squee is GOD.

That's good to hear. I agree that the manual is a lot more fun, but if I can get the ATX just as fast and even faster - then it's game time! So, I guess I will start with the basic mods first - the wires and plugs ect, exhuast, then the turbo, then the tranny mods. Does this sound right. What type of performance wires and pluges do you recommend. What type of air filtration device should I use.

Thanks for the help...

Most people start out with a cold air intake...you have what year...an 04? The iceman or AEM are pretty decent intakes.

Check out Modernperformance.com, they have all kinds of toys for the neon. After you figure out what you want try the Dodgeforum sponsers, they can probally get the parts cheaper for ya.
