Default individual ignition coils

while working i was wondering if it was possible to have individual ignition coils for each cylinder? I know it would have to be wired the same way(1&4,2&3). seems to me it would work and there would have to be some slight gain from it. any thoughts or opinions or would it just not work how i beleive it would.

It is possible and has been done, but is pretty much useless unless your running extremely high compression, as in pro racing. If you check out Mchats most recentvideo of his SRT-4 you can see he is using a coil pack for each plug.

not really... with higher compression you need more spark....

now that i think about it dcr makes them for the 2.4...however DCR = expensive as absoulute hell... like more then your car is worth expensive... not saying you have a cheap car but you would pay more then the KBB value for something like that...

This is a common misconception in the world of racing. Hot spark does not = HP. Sure it is great, but is only needed when you are turning extremely high rpms, then if you get too crazy, say by by to your pistons... You don't really need hotter spark with high compression if you think about it, the higher the compression the easier it tends to combust meaning it really requires less spark.
