Delivery, for mr... me....
well the guy showed up today with my new dohc in a crate... used but new to me...
anyways I dont know why i dident take pics of it all together I just pretty much started tearing it apart...lol
not as clean as he led me to belive and theres oil all over the bottom of the crate.... Think its just from it sitting on the oil pan for a couple years... but then again he left the motor hoist chain on the motor and he had it around the oil filter so porbally coming from there... hopefully...
anyways have a question....for those of you that have pulled motors... where is the best place to properly bolt the chain to the block to get it off the crate get the transmission off and the motor on the motor stand??? I'm pretty sure wrapping the chain around the intake manifold runner and then around the oil filter is not the right way to do it...
also... it came with the whole 95 wiring harness... the motor part is compleatly good no broken wires, the wires are still moveable and not hard. all the clips are there no cracked clips.. however the engine bay harness is toast been tapped into a million places. Theres a control box hooked into the harness, I know that the 95 pcm was smaller but by how much??? this thing looks small I'll put a pic of it below along with some pics of how far I got in about 45 mins ripping it apart... lol

when i lift the motor out i use the two outside head bolts ...just get a little chain and put the head bolts down through the chain ...just be carefull that the chain does touch the valve springs or you could break the tip off ur valve ...this is the only method ive ever used maybe other ppl have a better way...the only thing that might suck for u is that you have to replace the head bolts..not sure if ur goin to anyway but ya thats wat i do ....
titleAndStar(655,0,0,false,",")95to96transplantneo n how would u like to make me one on those cold air intakes like u have on urs ...i have no problem payin for all the parts and ur time...let me kno if u want to and how much.
well I got further got he motor on the motor stand got it further torn down. Found one big problem but I think its going to be ok still have to take the oil pan off to find out... seems that they dropped the motor on teh crate when they put it in the crate and total crushed one side of it... heres some more pics...

those cams look fine. course the only way to actually tell is to feel them, just run your finger across the lobes. because we have factory stock roller rockers, we usually dont see bad cams unless the engine has been ran short of oil. oh and as far as the pan goes (being crushed) to hell with it, you dont want that pan anyway. keep your eyes on ebay and get the morroso pan. it holds more fluid and has a slosh tray. the nice thing about a tin pan though, is that you can alwayse just use a hammer to work the dent out, course you may have to get a new pickup tube, but whatever. Im happy for you bro, i know when i first got my block i had a great time tearing it apart. Good times!
the cams are perfectly fine they feel straight and you cant feel a groove what so ever... as far as the oil pan goes all ready got a new one with a new pickup tube for 12 bucks... lol
