Something very bad just happened...
i always use fram filters....never had any problems....
hell, the fram filter on my wifes car has been on there for almost 15,000 miles
oh and its a PH3614

I replaced an engine at work for a customer who hit a rock and bent the filter away from the block and draining the oil and she kept driving. SO, yes it is possible. And it was a WIX filter (not sure if they're any longer)
Fram filters are junk. There are plenty of studies that prove this. I use Frams ocassionally because they are everywhere and I change the oil in all of our cars every three thousand miles anyways. Any filter manufactured by Champion labs is good (I.E. Wix, puraltor, Napa Gold, etc.)
I have used all kinds of oil filters to me they all seem about the same but I am no expert, to me its kinda like oil some swear by this brand and others say its junk like someone else said if framfilters were that bad they would go out of business,
as far as the hole goes it probably was due to what ever you hit usually I have seen filters that have blown and they usually split rather than just spring a leak

I think for the most part in this day and age the standard for even the cheap filtersis set at what the best was 10 years ago and anything better is just iceing on the cake.
I think its the same thing with oil,the standard is set high enough wheremost any brand is pretty goodof course I don't really care what brand oil I throw in as long as my car is full of at least10w-30oil. I do have a preference to Wal Marts Trop-Arctic 10W-30 Synthetic oil. I love the thicker oil just for piece of mind. Alot say they recomend 5w-30 but thats only for easier starts in winter,(I start perfect in -25 below zero so fk off 5w-30) if you had a new Hemi engine thenyouare restricted to 5w-30 no matter what cuz of theCylinder Deactivation system wont work properly without it.
I credit the 10w-30 and sometimes 10w-40to why my engine has taken such a beating, the thicker oil keeps my133,000 mileengine working like a top!.

crazy. you dont have any other oil leaks? like HG or oil pan
nope, its weird... i know... I ran my finger around the side at the bottom of the filter and nothing so i got some shop towels wiped the bottom of the filter dry and about 2 secs later a bead of oil came from this little area almost dead center of the filter....
All I know is I was about at 38 mph in first and just under the rev limiter probally 7000 rpms .... i was hauling to catch up to my friend...
