Default Mitsu turbo?

I'm in college so I don't have any real cash flow but my friend has a Mitsubishi turbo system- stock but still an improvement. I'm not sure what car it came out of but can anyone tell me if any of the Mistsubishi turbo manifolds will fit on a Neon? I may even go to a junk yard and re-build. I can't really afford an aftermarket system but a stock Mistubishi turbo system would put some pep in my step. Thanks.

It more than likely came out of an Eclipse GST if it was from a 3rd gen, or GST/GSX if it was from a 2nd gen. I don't know if it would fit your car, but its not an extremely strong turbo. It would give you the "pep" your looking for. But I wouldn't classify it as anything other than "pep" Its not going to really jolt you the way a stronger A/M turbo might.

Like I said I don't know if it would fit your car. I'm assuming your friend has a Neon as well?? If it fit his, then it should fit yours, assuming that you have the same car.

No he has a VR-4. I don't want tons of power just enough to play with w/o getting into BOV's or intercoolers. I want to find out wich Mitsubishi I should canibalize to get a stick Turbo set up. I have to get some interior parts from the junk yard and I want to pull a turbo to rebuild. I just want to make sure the exhaust manifold will fit. Does anyone know what I should look for?

You'll need a turbo manifold, either the dohc manifold or sohc if thats what you have. There are a few different manifolds, hahn and chillfactory come to mind first. There might be some others that I don't know of. Chillfactory's manifold has a T3 style flange on it. I don't know offhand a whole lot about what turbo a VR4 has in it, so you'll have to check into that further.

Okay, no one seems to get what I'm asking. If I go to a junk yard and pull a stock turbo manifold off of a mitsubishi will it fit on my dodge neon? Can I pull a stock turbo system off of a mitsubishi car and bolt it onto my '95 SOHC? If so which mitsubishi should I pull it off of- year, make, and model. Thanks for your help guy's you just didn't answer my question.

If I'm not mistaken....aren't their engines backwards compared to ours? So I highly doubt that you will just be able to go to the junkyard and pull a turbo system off a mitsubishi and bolt it up to your neon.

I believe you are right about the motor being "backwards" compared to ours.

They are backwards. You wouldn't be able to bolt that up. I didn't quite understand what you were saying at first. Mitsu engines are opposite. Plus your trying to mount something that was made for an entirely different engine and transmission onto your car. The VR4 is a V6 engine, your running an inline 4. Its also a TT setup to my knowledge. That wouldn't work. Maybe if it was something off a GST or GSX Eclipse you might have more luck with it....but again, your so much better off with something small, thats made for the car. If not, you'll run into problems down the road that will surpass the cost of the A/M turbo you were trying to avoid spending.

I'm not looking to run a VR-4 turbo. I did some looking and the manifold from a Gen 2 turbo eclipse is the same as for the Gen 1 Neon. It'll fit, the thing to look for is that they're both 420A engines. The engine may be backwards but that doesn't change how the turbo fits. Even if it did I'd just rotate the turbo housing. So just so everyone knows... the turbo manifold from a 420A Gen 2 turbo eclipse should fit on a dodge neon. I let ya'll know for sure once I try it. Wish me luck

I just found out that they don't make a turbo 420A eclipse. The turbo will fit but the manifold bolt pattern is different. The turbo eclipse is a different engine only the N/A is a 420A. I guess I'll have to come up with an adapter plate. God I hate college!!!! Why can't I spend money on my car instead of a measly old edumacation?
