the car is being set up for autocross, specifically a class that basically means street legal race cars. I can do anything i want to the car as long as its still street legal.
95-96, thanks your post made me realize how much i didnt put on there that ive already stripped, ive done probably 95% of your lists
slash / jr mechanic, if you can find a way for me to register this car in another state other the cali where the turbo is legal, i will gladly make the turbo my next mod, but as it is, its registered in cali and putting a turbo on would disqualify me from the class im getting it ready for, when the engine finally blows, i plan on stepping up to a non street legal class, but its got probably another 50,000 before it goes
harley, fuel cells definately on my list, im working in this order, engine, then safety/interior (roll cage, seat, 5 point harness, fuel cell and such) and then suspension. i have put suspension last because its critical to a good set up to know the finished weight of the car i come from motocross racing where people spend $2000 to lose 2 pounds off of a bike. if anyone knows where to get lexan windows from that would be a big help, ive found a place called 5 star bodies that makes fiberglass bodys and windows for late models, they make windows for neons but theres no pics and there hard to get ahold of
maybe weds ill take pics of the car so everyone can see how far i plan on going with it, my computers acting up tonight

You may want to check out the legality of lexan windows with your local authoritys... I know its a autocross car but the windowsmaynot belegal for street use, hence kicking you out of your class...
I acually know where you can pick up a fully lexaned car with tons of tin work fully gutted and caged for 2300... let me know and I can get pics...

I know you can set up a corperaton in montana and register and title it there a lot of people do that in Indiana to register their motorhomes there as not have to pay Indiana's outragous excise tax also do you have any friends or relitives in a different state you could use thier address just send them the title certified mail and have them register in your name using thier address and they can just send the plates and registaion back to you however the only drawback is your adress won't match if you get pulled over but that shouldn't be a problem also some states don't care if you use your address in cali I think maine does but not sure as a lot of compamies register thier semi trailers there I would suggest doing a search to find out like google or the like and that should be able to tell you what laws are where

well here are the pics, and my class choices
i can race street mod, which would require the passenger seat and all the trim, plus not legal to use a turbo in the class, weight limit of that class is 1800 pounds
i can race mod in the dm class, which i can do pretty much whatever i want to the car, weight limit 1380 pounds, no turbo
or i can turbo the car, race the mod em class, do whatever i want to the car pretty much, and have a 1700 pound limit
looks like mod em it is
heres the pics so far, REMEMBER this is a work in progress so yes it is currently ugly, there all photobucket links

remove the front bumpber bracket its behind the bumper like 8 bolts, just asorbs shock in a crash, dont think they would look for that
its about 40 lbs
get a racing seat thats lighter
lighter smaller wheels
remover radio faceplate cover an dash pieces.
i dont think you need a rear view mirror to be legal, mine fell off once, same day i got pulled over, and the cop said nohting
and cars/vans with business logos on rear windows dont need that miror
