I found a 98 neon sport locally on craigslist for $1000. The car has no engine or tranny, but the guy has an engine ready to be put in (included in the $1000). I emailed him about mileage on the motor and body and for some pics. He says the body is in good shape and i asked about the interior. Sound like a good deal? If i got it i would put my rims on the sport and sell my 4 dr for whatever i could get. probably a grand or so... Will update when i get pics.

Edit: Motor has 100,000 on it and has origional tranny still. Motor has new timing belt and water pump. Interior is a little rough, but the body is good. I didn't ask about price, but in the add he says $1000 firm. I would probably have to talk him down a little to go for it. He is going to send me pics tonight. He mentioned the door panels being the worst because the speakers had been stolen, but i could swap my door panels, any other interior parts needed, rims, and exhaust onto the new car.

 

I can get u a neon with no engine for under $100 with a good body. I turn down neons for sale cheap all day. Ol skool has 2 neons out ther efor sale. One runs fine he wants $350 for that one I think. I got a neon for sale with MANY new parts including oil pump water pump timing belt starter fuel pump tires. Its cherry. $1400. Only way I would buy a neon for that much is if it had the konis in it along with the rest of the good stuff.

 

Is it a manual or auto? You are still going to need a tranny anyways right? It only comes with the engine u said? There is a sport in town 4 door with stripes. Still has engine in it but its locked up for $400. I never paid more then $200 for a broke neon. I never paid over $600 for any neon.

If it was all there complete ready to be put in 1000 isnt to bad if its all around good shape and solid car. Still seems kind of high for a non-running neon.

about a year ago i bought a 95 sport coupe that had a 60,000 mile dohc swap done with an r/t tranny...new koni struts, new tires, 3 gauges in piller gauge pod, prothane suspension bushings, and a complete stage 2 turbo kit....along with tons and tons of other parts....all for $1000but that was a deal of a life time...

if the car looks good and the motor is good then $1000 doesnt sound too bad...i dont think so anyways....

 

I bought mine for a 1000... acr with re-valved koni's and the body kit and ww wing, not bad for a running acr... sorta expensive for a sport... but then again in montana its hard to find a good 1st gen... not even going to say why...

 

It's actually back home in seattle.

 

i would buy it...but then again im geting into buying/selling cars
