trouble starting
how do you know the starter is working correctly?
if the ignition cylinder is working and the relay is working. the next thing in line is the starter solenoid you can test the starter by applying 12volts to the small wire that goes into the bulg on the side of the starter. This sould engage that starter when you apply the power

I took the starter to a shop to get it tested, they said it was good.
I changed the the part where you put the key into and turn it, to turn the car on. Is there another part I need to check out?
So if I hook up a jumper cable to my other car with + to + and - to -, then hook up the other end, - to solid metal on the car and the + to the starter will the car turn over or start? Do I have to be turning the key at the same time I touch the starter? I know your not supposed to keep the jumper cable touching the starter for more than like 10sec.
I followed the wires from the ecu as far as I could and they all looked fine.
The reason I think it could be the ecu is, my stereo would some times turn off while it was on or not turn on at all. All it is, is a very old kenwood deck and stock everything. I never installed the setero, so I don't know how well it was installed. I realize that the ecu is very hard to frie, but I mean what else could it be?
Thanks

car turn over
should look like this

push on the silver part with the copper pigtail wire, with it in the car. should turn the starter,if not you have issues with the starter wiring, if it does turn the starter the problem is in the igition cylinder.
Ok so I tried hooking up my cables to a car that was running and hooked the other end up to my starter and grounded it, nothing happened. Then when I tried the relay thing the starter was clicking. It clicked everytime I pushed the coper pigtail wire in. Whats next then?
Is their a way to check the flywheel condition with out having to tear things apart?
Would their have been any signs the flywheel teeth where chipped/broken while I was driving the car? In other words can the flywheel just "break". The car has 135 ooo km (83 ooo miles)
The teeth on the starter looked fine.
