yeah and since its thick white sweet smelling smoke im going with coolant. i think i broke the "valve" part off of my pcv valve. i think by just replacing it with hose that i screwed my idle up. as far as burning crap - maybe its traveling through the pcv area as well. all i know is im getting a new valve cover gasket and pcv valve tomorrow.

do you have to powder coat a valve cover or can you just use high heat paint?

no way in hell you can have coolant comming out bettween the valvecover and the head?? did i read that right?sounds like a cracked head. yeah like he said check the oil for water. and you said you drove it a bit i would check the plugs to see if it is fowled because of the water comming out of the tailpipe. even though a few drips is normal happens a lot more when its cold out though of course.
I suppose you could use high temp paint but powdwer coating last a hell of a lot longer

im really hoping im somehow mistaking oil for coolant. as dumb as that would be.

1. will oil burn as white smoke?

2. will oil travel through my pcv valve hose if the pcv valve is missing and its just an open tube?

3. how is the best way to install a valve cover and gasket set? (i dont think the cover gasket will fit insite the channel on the cover and stay while you install it.

1..... it can

2.... yes. PCV stands for positive crankcase ventilation. the ball in there is a check valve to keep oil in the engine.

3....put a littlegrease or silicone lube or even permatexin the channel, put the gasket in, then install.
