Default Changing the Oil to much

well as you all know me and Jeremy just swapped in the 2.4 and everyone says change your oil every 3-5k miles but i was curious if i changed it every 1000-2000 would i mess anything up.. i dont see how i could mess anythign up but im just curious how come ppl dont change there oil more frequently to keep there engines tip top shape.. cuz unless you guys say other wise i will prolly change it evry 1500 or so miles

thanks for the info

so i think ill change my oil every 2000 miles just to keep it safe and i want to take care of this engine cuz the old engein was hot rodded around since about 30k and died at 90k so this engine is at 27k and i want it to be at like 200k (or more)

i know i could of searched this Topic on the internet but i want to hear what you other neon owners opinions are on chnaging the oil..

my wifes old cavalier used to change its own oil,um rather I poured a qaurt a week in and it leaked out of the valve coverand spit it out through the valve seals. it may sound funny but i bet that motor even with the leakswas healthy because it had new oil every week

If you are going to use Mobil 1, then I would not change it every 1500-2000 miles. That would be just like pouring money down the drain. The 3month/3000 mile oil change is completely outdated. The commercials still advertise this because they want to sell you more OIL!!! The truth is, conventional oil can be changed every 5000 miles and true synthetic oils can be changed every 8000-10000 miles.
