So I had to put a new water pump in and I forgot to mark the cam gear, I marked the cover and belt so they would line up but forgot the cam gear[:'(]. So how would I get it aligned.

I'm also wondering what "notches" mean for aligning the camshaft sprocket?? I know how to get it at TDC and all but I'm not sure how to adjust the sprocket 3 "notches" left then 1/2 right cause the marks are not supposed to line up..

 

There is a small notch that helps you align the cam. Look closely and you should see it.
