Default New engine build n/a

Okay so far I got dohc pistons lined up, piston rings, all bearings, all gaskets, head bolts, mopar pcm lined up, tb spacer, 52mm tb, 95 cam (wondering if I should go better). First off. I never rebuilt an engine before. Do i need to get the block and crank machined? The engine had a bearing knock I think. I know I need to get the head done. Next, is there anything I need to do when dropping the dohc pistons in the sohc? Anything else I should know. And last I need to know what cam I should get, and what other upgrades I need/should get that would be a great benefit for my setup n/a. I am think of headers. But I think I will keep the exhaust all stock and cut open the cat and muffler and hollow them out, what do u think of that? Thanks for the input.

if the motor had a rod knock then it would be a good idea to get the crank checked out...probally get the journals reground if the crank is scratched up

yeah if the cyclinders arn't mared up you can just take a flex hone and hone it. and maybe a rig removal tool and touch up the top portion

its not good idea to do this stuff if you have never done it before. The block has tolerances that have to be measured to ensure that the engine is still good. They alos need to be measured with amirometerthat are notcheap for good sets. Some things that need measurement include, checking rods for twist, strech, ensuring piston to cylinder tolerances, piston ring end gap, crack to journal clearance, rod to crank clearance, valves for strech, check the cylinders witha bore mirometer and many more.these are just some that come to mind, if your want to know more check your hanyes manuel.

you alsodef Dont want to use a reamer on your cylinders. The only reason you would have to use that is if you had some serious cylinder damage and if that was tha case it would be best to get a new block.

Even if the engine is in great running condition I need to do all of that? I plan do use used dohc pistons and rods, new bearings, new gaskets. Do I need to file down the dohc pistons? and how will I learn to do it if I never do it? Come help me .

ive heard of that but dont know for sure. The best way to find out is to put caly on your piston, torque the head down and rotate the engine 360. Pull the head back off and check the clay for the internal clearances.

How much better is a crane #10 cam comapred to the 95 cam? I already have the 95? I was thinking of getting the crane valve springs. Will they work any better then the stock ones? I never cammed before.
