we should set up an east coast neon meet. there are alot! of neon owners from IL on these forums for some reason. neons0x events are too far to drive.

the pulley came off with the puller correctly. boo!

so far i have everything off but the head - im nervous. i did find a pool of oil laying in the bottom of my intake manifold. im assuming the rings went and pushed oil up into the combustion chamber or the head cracked..... i really wish it was just a head gasket. guess i wont know till i get the camshaft sprockets off - then the head.

ill update u guys after lunch - let ya know whats busted.

Glad to hear you stuck with it. My engine was smoking out the valve cover bad, low compression in #4. Seen moisture in oil so assumed it was the head gasket. Cylinder walls and pistons seem to be in great shape on it. $150 mistake. I hope it works out for you! I have a dohc head laying around if you need one.
