98 SOHC Toasted Water Pump
While driving to work my water pump went south and ate a couple of teeth off of the belt (9ish). Replaced the Belt and installed a new pump. Followed the directions in the Haynes manual for TDC. I put it all back together and it wont start.
It turns over no spark
The coil test good
Battery is 6 months old
Battery Cables are Secure
Is this a Crankshaft Sensor problem? Any ideas?
Thanks

You could test the crank sensor did you make sure that your cam was also aligned with its timing mark and that you have the correct tension applied here’s a good guide wrote by spudsterierhttps://dodgeforum.com/m_543405/tm.htmit took me a couple of tries before everything to align up good. Those timing belts can be a little tricky to geteverything to align up right.
I_Ride_Neon is right I total forgot about bent valves being a possibility but of course I didn’t have my valves check when my timing belt broke I just assumed they where bent and bought a remanufacture head.
Bent valves from this is just as likely as from a snapped timing belt...
Sparky dont be intimidated... just double and triple check everything and once you get the timing belt on and you think you got it... take a 19mm wrench and manually turn the motor over by hand... every time you get the crank around 2 times check to make sure your in time... only turn the crank clockwise and you will be fine... if you go past the timing marks dont back up just keep going another two times... I think i did this around 5 times on boxers 2.4 just to make damn sure that that motor was in time...

Thanks for all of the suggestions and help, the link from BVIL was very helpful. I was just a little off on the timing. It took about six attempts and we finally got it. I managend not to bend my valves!
Thanks again for all of the assistants!

I was just reading through the forum to see if i could find my questions already asked..and i found yours...i have a 95 dodge neon, we bought it used a year ago or so and i dont know exactly what upgrades have been done to it. All i know for sure is; intake, headers, magnaflow oval street series universal muffler, and a short shift kit, from who i dont know. But anyway im not sure what happened but while i was driving it at about 50 and was almost empty on gas, going up a kinda steep little hill the car died? Well since i was low on gas i called a friend so we could put some gas in it, then i tried starting it but it wouldnt start. It turns over normally but wont start. After a few minutes checking the car i looked under the engine on the belt side and water was just running out of it. I havent been able to check to see the damage cause i dont have any tools really anymore and im not even sure where to start to get the cover off. I did over heat the car a couple of times during the winter cause since we went used we didnt know that there wasnt coolent just water in it. So it all froze and would take like an hour or so to break up. So since that happend im thinking maybe the water pump, but what else could it be? I called a shop to get the water pump fixed but they told me that it would cost like 500 dollars to get it fixed. I thought it seemed a little high for just a water pump.
Can i do it with the basic tools? If not what tools do i need, id rather do it myself than be ripped off...I also had some questions about my neon...which one is it...its a 2door coupe, SOHC with 5 speed transmission, it has disc breaks on all four corners, and a spoiler. The guy who owned it before me raced it, or so i was told, neither do i know what kind of race they ran it in. Could i just replace the engine with maybe the DOHC engine but still have my jolting excelleration and the sick sound of it?
Thanks for your help.
