broken exshaust bolt iin block
If you pull the manifold you should just be able to use your hand and loosen it. There should be enough sticking out of the head. Try to use a flathead screwdriver and get it to turn out. Once you brake a bolt. It usually sits in there loose. The hea od the bolt is what keeps it tigh tin there. If all fails, drill and tap.
Get a set of easy outs. You drill a hole in the remaining bolt, tap the easy out into place, and turn. The easy outs are a very hard steel with a reverse threading. When you turn them CCW, they thread themselves into the hole until the friction overcomes the bolt and it torques them out. The are not to expensive. Don't hit them too hard as they are brittle, and will break. Also, you may break one or two just in the line of duty.
Yes,I had the same issure with my exhaust manifold bolts, the bottom 4 were broken. I thought it was going to take me all day to remove them. It only took me about 20 min to remove them. I used a pair of vice grips that worked like a charm. the manifold was completly removed when I removed the broken bolts.
