I would have the trans rebuilt. If you bring it to a shop they will take it out, rebuild, and put it back in for about $800 -$1000. If you can do it yourself, either goto the junk yard and pick one up for maybe $300, or get it rebuilt for about the same.
I know a lot about cars and I won't mess with the inside of a trans. I am sure that you could get the parts and do it, but I would only recomend it if you know what you are doing, its gonna be a lot more expensive to bring a trans in pieces to a shop and say fix this, not to mention embarasing.
trust me I understand what your talking about, I am on my 3rd clutch from autozone, if it wasn't under warenty and I could just return it I would go somewhere else. Stock one that came with the car lasted almost a year and the car has 140,000 miles on it. 1st replacement- blew up in 2 days, 2nd- lasted a month, 3rd- yet to be seen. I know I am a little hard on the car, but by no means is every shift at redline.
