Default RE: Extra Ground Straps: Why?

Working on it as we speak

**UPDATED**

Checking around the engine bay with my test light, it seems any bolt going through the body of the car is grounded. Seems pretty easy to do. I recommend not using anything less than 10 gauge wire. I used 8 gauge as it is thicker than the factory ground straps. i will also add that before doing this installation, my car did have trouble starting initially, mainly due to a lot of the factory straps being removed due to rust. This cost about $10 to do and certainly helped the electrical system perform properly. I will not say power was "added" so much as it was restored. Car fires right up now.

My vice grips could not secure the clip not he 8 gauge wire tight enough,so the hammer was called in.

Here is a shot of the clips I used. They were more expensive gold clips that conduct electricity better, or so the label read. Hell, they match my battery terminal [8D]

Passenger side mount grounded to the frame.

Ground strap secured at the rear of the cylinder head, and the frame. This strap was put in to replace the factory strap that was in this location.

Ground strap secured at transmission mount bracket. This strap was placed here to also replace a ground strap that was secured here by clips. Instead of securing this mount at the frame where the mount is bolted down, I ran it to the strut tower.

Ground strap secured on the driver's side rear of the cylinder head, running to the fire wall. My test light seemed brighter when chek the rear of the head. my put one more back there, just to better disperse the electric charge.

Here is the last strap made and check before running out of straps. This was connected to the lower point where the power steering bracket was located.

Tsunami Premium battery terminals:
-special tapered to fit battery
-24K hard gold plated
