engine out... sohc in....

RE: engine out... sohc in....
The sohc's powerband is pretty much 1500 Rpm to 5800 Rpm. If you have a 95 SOHC the cam makes a huge difference on this motor and is pretty impressive on the low end, my 95 motor had alot more ***** on the low end than my 98 did but the 98 would take most of the cars in its class in a race.
I have a cold air intake and chikara header without a catalitic converter and the power this thing makes is pretty good even with an automatic, it will burn out no problem and actually gets nasty in the rain lol. I am making a pvc intake to give me a 8-10hp boost and it will be nice.

the sohc is a pooch in the upper rpm range....
if you spend most of your time about 70mph then you wont like it

Besides the sohc makes more power in a normal powerband than a dohc does, so 3,000 rpm on the highway is right up the sohcc's ally for power more than a dohc at that rpm!

RE: engine out... sohc in....
still in third gear at 80 in my neon. I never road in a dohc. But my sohc wooped all the other sohc neons in town. Only good race in my town was integras. I can only beat them half the time. They are fast. Specially those gsr ones. Kid had one of them all done up, I swear he was going 50 in first gear. I want to race a neon dohc. I think they are talked up alot.
