Great news. I am back in the neon. Pics.
Have to remember that the DOHC's were rated at 150 HP, but that doesn't mean they actually made 150 HP... Many had the cam gears set improperly from the factory and were coming off the line losing a good 5-10 HP because of it. Even then, 114 HP does seem a little low... Since most R/T's and DOHC ACR's were quite capable of running mid-15's off the showroom floor, I'd put them closer to the expected 125ish WHP range. 114 WHP on a loaded R/T would barely get it in the 15's... Don't know whose car Anthony was using on the dyno, all of his were SOHC's. My SOHC dynoed 111 HP to the wheels stock, right before putting on my first mod - a K&N FIPK. Last check (late 2004) was a little over 139 WHP on the best of 3 pulls, the other 2 were a smidge over 137 WHP, so that's what I go with.
Crane 0014 or 0016 camshaft & matching valve springs
I have a problem with this part...
can you find it...
seriously... if your looking to make mad power... get the crane 007 it can be run on stock sohc head with the exeptions of springs... the crane 005 is bigger but is reserved for the elite... it requires rhode lifters and trimming the valve stem...
and yes there are people that daily drive the crane 007... I saw one on the org going for 300 the other day used... (org will be down for a little bit there moving the server...) it was in exellent condition... there very close to crane 20's that they make for dohc however its done by duration and not lift...
