18 dont belong on neons, less they are crane 18s.

my buddy put srt4 wheels on his, had to use a 35 sidewall tire w/o rubbing
i dont know if u can pt 18s on a neon
ur gonna have a tire that has almost no rubber on it, and everytime u hot a pothole, ur gonna bent ur rim.
good luck

205/40/R18's would work too. Might look a little better too if your ride is stock height, get rid of some of the wheel gap. If it's lowered though, i'd go with the 35's. Check out the Cooper Zeon's, they're some damn good tires, Fuzion ZRi's are good too.

da coopers and da fuzions arent bad but the sidewall on them has a lot of flex. if you have modded suspension ur gonna want somethin with a stiffer sidewall. check out sumitomo and falken. with a smaller sidewall u r gonna want somethin sturdier to help protect those rims as much as possible.

whatever... I have 18"s on my Neon withFalken 215/35r18's and they are fine, no spacers and no rubbing. The only mod was for the fact that my rims(Motegi's) are a bit too wide and I had to heat bend the rear trailing arms so they wouldn't scrape on the inside edge of the rims. Not only does it handle like a go-kart but our roads here in the North Texas area are well known for the giant tire eating potholes and so far I havent bent not even one wheel yet, but I also keep the tires aired up to about 40 psi each
