since you can use stock srt4 internals in a 2.4 for a neon, i would assume that u could get the 2.4 block fomr a caliber srt4(which is made of alumiun, not cast iron, weightin 50lbs less) and go high compression adn have a 1st gen with 12;1 compression with 50 lbs lighter engine, correct?
that would be kick ****

In order to use the caliber... and yes it has allready been done in a 1st gen... you must use MegaSquirt. And be very very very (insert another million very's) good with it... The new world motors have more crap on them then a gonarria infested prostitue. And most of them need to be controlled persisely with MS. If you dont even know what the sensor does how do you tune it... thats the problem they are having... The same guys that brought us the Neoprenza are doing it.

First generation Neons are way better looking than 2nd gen thats just my opinion
dtjackten: there's those kinds of people everywhere, from SRT owners, to Honda owners, to Mustang owners, to even Corvette owners....its all about how much you can SAY you have...rather then what you can DO...
very true devils, but i dont think u see that much with the honda civics unless it is like an SI where they bought it fast... i am a firm believer of the term "bought not built" or in alot of the non srt4 neons (first and second gen) "built NOT bought!!!!" people that get a stock car and buildit to get numbers on the track have always gotten alot more respect than the cars that were bought fast... granted people will disagree me but that is just the way i feel

RE: SRT4 this SRT4 that...
I dont know... if I could find a nice, clean, unmolested, low mileage SRT4 for less than $10,000 that somehow could still be considered within warranty so I could buy the Chrysler 7/100 to go with it at just the right time, I would gladly get rid of my 1996 Neon and be more than happy. But just as the SRT4's were getting down to that level, the gas prices went thru the roof and now even my POS Neon is going up in value as my totally clean and all the above 55,000 mile '04 Ram's value drops thru the floor as it sits in my garage because I cant afford to put $90 or more a week into it. Crazy times we are in... but the SRT4 is/was all that and the bag of chips when you consider how much it was when new and the total lack of competition in the market att he time of production. And everyone here knows that a stage 3 which will set you back upwards of about $6G's more will leave you with a cheapo car that will run circles around even lightly mod'd Vipers which are easily 3 times the price.

i would much rather have a nice 2nd gen then a nice 1st gen....only thing stopping me is the price difference.....
i just bought my beater little 95 sohc auto 4-door for $250.....if i would have ever been able to find a 2nd gen for that price, then i would have went that route
i love the whole "built-no-bought" concept, its always been a big thing on my list...but at the same time, the biggest mistake ive ever made in my life was dumping as much money as i did into my old red r/t....for what i had into that car, i could have bought 2 srt4's (which i would have been alot happier with)
