RE: Anyone know how much to torque a rod cap?
that additional 90 degrees of turning should only be done once. that is the same way the head bolts are. torque to spec then +90 degrees. one time.
the old bolt had came loose after only 2 minutes of running at idle.i tried to re-tighten it and it snapped immediatly. got it out and headed to the dealership (at the advice of the machine shop) for some new rod bolts.
old rod bolts are a great way towards a spun bearing, bent valves, scored cylinder wall, cracked head... all kinds of fun things.
