Default Starter question

So the starter just crapped out in my car and my neighbor has a wrecked neon he said I could take the starter from. The question is this. Is there a difference between a starter for an MTX car and one with an ATX? Or are they the same. The one in the parts car was new before he wrecked it so I know it's good, but his is an atx trans and mine is mtx. Thanks for replies in advance

As far as I know they are the same. I think the years will be the only thing. They may have used different style clip for the remote wire on it. Buts thats an easy fix.

Thats what I understand as well. Hence the reason you need a 2nd gen starter if you run the magnum intake on a 1st gen.

They are actually the same size. They just put the solenoid in a different spot. Its lower. I think thats what its called? The thing the power hooks into.

1st gen starters aren't different. I've put 95 starters in 97's and 96's in 97's and 95's. so pretty sure its the same.
