wait im confused,
i cant just run a heavier wire from the alternator directly to the battery?

disconnect the old one from the alt and remove the old link. Run a new wire from the alt to the batt with the link in series with that wire.

dammit im confused again
i want to not even mess with the factory harness
i want to take an amp power wire with a fuse in it and run that from the alt directly to the battery not connecting anywhere to the factory harness.

go for it, just disconnect the factory harness from the alt

The harder the alt has to work to keep up with the current the car is using, the hotter it gets and that is what kills the alt.

For example if you have a 100amp alt pumping 100amps 100% of the time its not going to last as long as a 100amp alt only working for 50% of the time. Simple wear and tear form having to extra hard for extra bass amps.

Anouther thing is if your going to run a fuse make sure its value is the same as the max output for the alt.

pic shows extra yellow wire hookup notice how you disconnect the red from the alt then add the yellow.

alrite here
so i took a 4gage amp wire ran it from the alt to the positive batery termianal and it was bad
