Unhappy Struts?

Ok so I drive a 99 R/T with 155,000. Needless to say I'm over the whole performance deal at this point and am just trying to keep it as a good daily driver while I'm at school. Lately the car has this weird "clunk" while driving. Especially while turning in reverse. Also it has been progressively getting worse over the past few weeks. The car is riding really rough and i'm almost certain that my struts are shot. But my question is, could this clunking be happening because of worn struts? Btw I also have eibach sportline springs on the car.

If this is the case, what kind of money would I be looking at for new struts all the way around. I know modern has KYB's for I believe 239 but because of time constraints with school, I'm not sure if I'd have the time to do them myself. How in depth of a job would this be? And does anyone have experience with the general range of pricing I'd be looking at to have it done in a shop?

Thanks for the help

you can get some good monroe struts from autozone for about $50-$60 a piece, but i have no ide of an installation price....if you do decide to do the job yourself, i would just go with the KYB's....also if you do it yourself, you will need spring compressors (you can rent from autozone) and it would really help to have an air compressor

In all honesty, as someone who hasn't worked much with suspension, what would be your guess as to how hard of a job this would be or how long it would take?

Also, any thoughts on the "clunking?" It feels like it's coming from the entire car almost. Maybe more towards the rear. Its really hard to explain

I used to work at a Farm and Fleet, and the installation was $49.99 per strut. So theres $200 right there, without tax. Then there were struts anywhere from $40 up to $200. $40 was just a basic strut, and $200 was a Quick-strut, which had new mounts and spring with it. If you went with the $40, the shop my also tell you that you need new strut mounts, (about $40 a piece) which is altogether a posibility. My car clunks too, but it seems relative to the bumps I hit, so I am certain its the strut mounts.

Do you hear the clunking coming from only the front or rear? Or is it just an all around clunking?

I was paying extra attention this morning and it seems like the clunking is coming from the rear for the most part.

ok the problem that I'm now running across is that I'm having trouble finding someone that will install struts on my car because of the eibachs. I kind of want to keep those so should I just not mention that I have them? Any suggestions on a place that will install struts with aftermarket springs?

if the clunking is comming from the rear then its probally bad mounts....but lowering spring are not good on stock shaocks anyways...so it could be both

I think after looking around at prices a bit today I'm just going to go with KYB GR2s all the way around. Should work better with the springs anyways. Found a decent price on installation so I figure if it gives me another year or two with the car the price will be worth it. Alot cheaper than monthly car payments for something new....
