I have a 1998 neon r/t 5-speed. They are fun as hell!!! I used to drive autos but having a manual is just fun becasue you can pick which gear you're in at what time you want. They are cheaper to buy, and fix. Also if you get snow in your state, I found manuals are great in the snow. I live in the northeast so...

 

i love my 5 spd..... i wouldnt buy a car that wasnt. theres nothing wrong with an auto... if you like autos go ahead and get one

ok I like most of you but those who put down autos Isure can beat you any time its how you drive I drive my autos fast and fun and I beat all kinds of 5 speeds around here especially in my turbo 1st gen. not a track girl just a daily racer once in a while . I didnt want to start something and auto 5 speed to each and every own.Im gonna learn so I can drive my truck that im gettin.

 

Stock for stock your right, and thats where it ends. A built ATX is stonger and faster in a turbo car. Can you shift as fast and consitant as a machine. I have a MTX and would not drive anything else, but a ATX is a better turbo car. You lose boost in between shifts, MTX-4 shifts, ATX- 2 shifts= less turbo lag. Put a performance parts in the trans and you can redline an ATX.

ur just a crappy driver if u depend on a auto trans to do ur work learn to drive a stick and it is better anyday
autos suck and even witha turbo on it
im naturally aspirated and drive a stick
i beat honda civics, honda integras and all those cars like that because i drive better than most stick and auto drivers
im not saying im the best but lots of people cant drive worth anything they dont know how to shift fast or effiencent they cant do starts and autos especially just have to step on the gas lame. To tell u the truth autos dont redline they get crappy starts and they shift slow unless u get some sort of a auto quik shifter??? and the performance part to redline in autos??? where did u find it i want to read up on it
as for more turbo lag on sticks with turbos??? just drive well with e turbo and you'll be fine if u cant shift fast and effience you'l woop any auto
i have a friend with 2.4 liter twin cam cavalier with a supercharger and i wooped his *** with my natural aspirated beccause im able to drive well and his car is auto and doesn't redline and he has the quik shifter and perfromance upgrade for redlining( i didnt know what it was??)

just learn to drive and the traffic thing find ways around traffic
i commute every morning and i dont get stuck in traffic even during rush hours i just find ways around it and drive aggressively so i get in front for redlights so im not stuck behind cars it's skills and auto requires no skill just a foot and it's boring to drive a auto and u pay less attention the gurl with a turbo auto neon 1st gen u beat ur oppenents because they r not racing and u and if u had a oppenent that could match ur cars power or whatever or be a close match u would lose cause u will not reach max speed cause of ur auto. autos r crap and most everybody already knows that. Auto trasmissions are not strong enough to handle a turbo pushing high boost, it is a waste of money to turbo charge a car with a auto.

u r an idiot. have some respect for those of us how see no need to learn to drive a stick. i no they are fun, i have driven them before, but i just personally don't see the need. it is great that it is available for those people who prefer sticks, but it is not what i want or need. and I'm calling u out on the fact autos don't red line. try driving autostick, but don't shift. the computer will shift it automatically at the red line point. as for racing drag strips, automatics are so fast now that they can out do a perfect manual shift. so they are better at higher speeds. auto do suck real bad at cornering though. my car does some weird sh*t when I'm cornering aggressively. there is definitely an advantage there for manuals. but remember *******: to each their own. if i person prefers manual then by all means buy and drive a manual no one is stopping u. it doesn't mater to anyone else in the world but u. why does me and other people who prefer automatics matter to u. can u really tell when someone is cruising only at 70 on the highway...no because it doesn't matter. u get the same end result.

also about the auto redlining...real cars like the Charger and 300c have autostick, and redlining it in autostick will put your *** in place.
