Hi all, I have a question for you. I have a 1998 dodge neon base model 2.0L SOHC. It is a slop box auto with 65,000k miles on it. Now, when I accelerate, from zero, stepping on it pretty well, I can feel a little rumbling underneath the car. I continue to accelerate and it shifts into second gear, then hesitates and the rpms go up, like it shifted back to first(I have no tach, but I can hear it rev right up). I have no idea what is wrong with it, does anybody have any theories? Also, are the automatics supposed to have 4 gears? Because it feels like mine only has 3 gears. Any feedback would be greatly apprciated, thanks!

 

They only have 3 gears as to the problems your having I dont have a clue, never owned an auto.

have the tras serviced and the bands ajusted.

 

the bands adjusted? Sorry, I am a big time noobie

 

Take it to a trans shor and tell them you want a fluid and filter change and your bands ajusted. You can do it your self, but its not for the novice. Get a full service manual from the dealer and it will show you how.
