What's Wrong with this Picture
Here is a Picture of the front of my engine - I have removed my radiator and my power steering pump to get this picture
Just to clarify what you are looking at - this is a picture of the front my engine in my 96 Neon DOHC 2.0.

Yep - I threw a Rod or two last year while racing at AMS - I was on the Back Stretch doing about 130MPH when she blew - finally got around to pulling the engine out last weekend to install a new motor.
The hole is about the size of a softball.
The Funny thing is - I can still start the engine and it will run (Very Very Very Rough -it wont idle on its own - so you have to keep on the gas) -but it runs - I drove it off the trailer into the garage with that hole in it.
I was amazed the engine still runs with that much damage!

Wow that is pretty amazing that it still runs like that...I don't know that I would do that myself. I don't think I could take the sound of my car in such pain. Gonna tear it apart and rebuild the motor or you just going to swap a new motor in there?
I got Lucky and picked up a Brand New Long Block Crate Engine (which is very rare - usually they are remanufactured short block crate engines) and I will be installing it this weekend.
I have the old Motor disconnected and ready to pull - but having a slight issue of pulling it out - not enough room to pull the engine out - trying to decide if I should pull the timing belt and pulleys off or dropping the drive train to get the engine out, I need about 2 more inches of clarence for the fly wheel to clear the transmission housing.
I have read a few feeds on here that I can take a SOHC engine block and move all of my DOHC parts on to it and it will work - so that is my next proj - I picked up a cheap 98 Dodge Neon (wrecked) with a SOHC engine in it and try to upgrade it to DOHC and have a spare motor for when I blow this new engine.
I will probably blow up this new engine [:@] - I have become more aggressive with my racing

It is Crazy RayDog26 - There is still some oil in the crank - since it runs - I figure most of it is worth salvaging. Like to see if I can take a SOHC Block and put all of my DOHC parts on it. I have read on here people doing it and it works!
I will definately post pictures - I figure my next pictures should be Saturday or Sunday - I have to finish installing my new Motor.!
Thanks

Hi lblackneon - I think the engine was ready to blow - I have about 18000 Miles on it - being my 2nd year racing (actually going on my 3rd Racing) I am surprised the engine lasted that long - I think the equate 1 weekend of Racing ( 1 practice session, 1 Qualify Session, and 1 Race) is equivilant to 1 year of regular driving on a Engine - I think I probably have about 20 races on that engine.
Being I ran Sythentic in it helped protect most of it - I think the Piston or Cylinder had enough and just grabbed and snapped - I will know more this weekend when I take the engine apart!
Thanks for inqiuring!
