Post Neon oil leak

I'm brand new here so don't be to hard on me. I do have a question, I was a Neon owner, 94 I think, and it was a great car and went 200,000 miles and always ran fine. The only problem it had was a major oil leak after about 60,000 miles. I changed the headgasket once but that only helped for a short while. I'm seriously considering a used Neon and I'm sure the problem has been resolved just interested in when, year wise, that was done?

the Head gasket was revised starting in the 98 model year. if that's what you are asking.

FYI on other area's that Neons normally leak from, rear main seal, cam sensor, oil sending unit, and the valve cover gasket (including the tube seals)

Why would synthetic oil cause anything to leak? Makes no sense.

this falls into the realm of what you believe.
There is a camp out there that believes regardless of what the oil manufacturers claim. that conventional and sysnthetics dont mix.

the premise behind this thinking is when seals are conditioned with conventional oil then u switch they have tendency to leak.

if theres any science to this i have no idea, but I've heard this argument many times before. I dont necessarily subscribe to this theory.

I myself cant justify the extra cost in synthetic oil, thats why I dont use it.
