Whats the best CAI for a DOHC 98 neon. I see alot of talk about which ones to get. I'm also looking for something that I don't have to worry to much about driving through a puddle and flooding my engine.

I like the ice man. Even with the filter placed behind the motor or by the wheel, it still can get splashed with water. Heck I got snow into mine when it was behind the motor. I think ice man or 3.0 intake is the best choice. Put a splash guard under it, if your that worried.

Ice man on tops if you can find one but they are expensive

the 3.0L intake can be down for less than $50 or even in my case less than $30.

AEM goes behind the motor so it really doesn't help all too much. but for the price doing the 3.0L is the best for performance per dollar.

I don't have a scrap yard anywhere near me to get the parts I need. Is there any intakes out there that are not behind the motor but under the battery tray? I may even move the battery to the trunk if need be for room.

First, do not expect over 3 HP to 5 HP incresse witha CAI. Second build your own like I did (no I do not have dyno results). I used rubber plumbing cuplings from LOWES or any hardware, and then I added PVC tubing (many say that in a fire PVC gives off toxic fumes, well bud in any fire like that I am going to be as far away from the flames as possible). I did pull the batery tray, removed the cover, and slotted the hold down bolts so I could slide the thray back a bit and then used a common hold down foot at the base of the battery. I ran a rubber coupling,2" from the TB to a 90 degree 2" elbow, then a rubber connector to hold a straight piece of 2"PVC to just in front of the battery, aniother 90 degree rubber elbow to take a piece of stright 2" PVC down and behind the grill and then a K&N cone filter on the end of the PVC. I tie wrapped or secured the assembly at the radiator and behind the grill. I did paint the PVC Black so all colrs matched and have used this set up for over 10 years. Does it work, who knows, but it sure has a gnarly growl at full throttle.

Oh and my car is a double fan, DOHC with MTX.

i went with a $40 ebay cheapy. its designed to go behind the motor but it came with an extra bend. so in winter (cuz illinois uses tons of salt) i set it behind the motor. in summer i use the extra bend, run it in front of the battery, and position it beneath the motor by the trans.

http://www.mydodgeparts.com/

go there and look under neons...its the iceman intake but they renamed it...if you look up iceman and comepare they have the same bends and go to the same spot under the battery tray...but look at the hefty price tag
